About My Blog

Illustrations, Prints & Stories

The bulk of the stories, and accompanying illustrations or photos, that I’ll be sharing on this blog dates from 1906 to 1911. A fascinating period of transition, movements pulling in opposite directions, just like our present times: full of energy, entreprise, questioning, curiosity, daring, and a desire for change.

I classify such illustrated Edwardian history within the realm of cultural anthropology; the stories must be considered in context. Whenever I find myself drawn towards the high ground of self-righteousness I say to myself “Oh! really? I wonder what humanity will say about our certainties one hundred and ten years down the road.”

In troubled times wear colors that cheer you up.

Create Your Own

For some time now textile crafts, especially those that make use of vintage and rescued clothes, has been going through an understandable rebirth. Sewing is popular, upcyling is valuable and, judging from the information that is out there on the Web, it appears that more people are also into customizing purchased sewing patterns. I decided that it was time I joined the happy do-it-yourself community.

I don’t sell my patterns and very few of the clothes that I’ve designed over the years, but what I will share is the planning and designing of dresses by drawing from the timeless, perfect, forever smart designs that came decades before we were born.
